30 Beggars Sent To Prison For Begging In Lagos State

Beggars Sent to Prison for Begging In Lagos

Unbelievable! About 30 beggars in Lagos have been arrested and locked up for begging in Lagos. A sitting at the Special Offences Court in Alausa area of Ikeja sentenced them to Kirikiri prison after they were charged of constituting nuisance in public by begging.

From what the Attorney General of Lagos is saying, begging is now and offence based on the criminal law of the state.

Lemme get this straight....a man is sent to prison for politely begging for money, another man is sent to the same prison for forcefully robbing a man at gun-point? What am I missing here?
