After so many years gone by, a Lagos High Court has sentenced Major Hamza Al-Mustapha to death by hanging for the 1994 murder of Hajia Kudirat Abiola, the wife of the late business mogul and winner of the June 12, 1992 election, Bashorun MKO Abiola.

Al-Mustapha was the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Sani Abacha.

This judgement was passed under Justice Mojisola Dada, who also sentenced Alhaji Lateef Shofolahan, A homer personal assistant to Mrs. Abiola to death by hanging over the assassination.

Mrs. Kudirat Abiola was killed on the streets of Lagos on one 4th 1996 by gunmen sent by Major Mustapha while he was the CSO to Abacha. Alhaji Shofolahan provided surveillance assistance to the killer squad as they trailed the outspoken wife of Chief Abiola until her murder.
